Tim second in Los Cabos

When the Ironman in Los Cabos was announced we found ourselves drawn to google maps to check out the race location.

Meanwhile Tim had booked his flight and was busy planning his whale watching adventures, with a quick swim, bike, run thrown in for good measure.

It is not easy training for an early season Ironman in the depths of a UK winter, particularly this 2013 edition of winter, so much credit goes to Tim for arriving in Mexico in good form and executing a very solid race.

After the race, Tim found time in between tickling baby greys to send us this short report:

“Ironman Los Cabos turned out to be a truly challenging and enjoyable addition to the Ironman calendar, with the inaugural race made even tougher by a very windy bike and hotter than expected run.

I had a solid day, despite fading a bit in the second half of the bike course and was delighted to hang in on the run for second in my age group, closing very slowly on the winner, but I’d have needed a couple more hours to catch him!

A solid early start to my race season and I’m looking forward to building on it and hopefully going one better in Tenby in September. Mexico has proved to be a great race venue and is the perfect place to combine an amazing holiday with an Ironman. I’m sure this will be a very popular race in future years.”
