Ironman 70.3 UK this weekend

As usual Team Freespeed Virgin Active will be arriving at Wimbleball for one of our favourite events of the year with real strength in depth.

We are very proud to have had three of the four amateur champions from the last two years – Sam Baxter in 2012, and Stuart Anderson and Jenny Gowans in 2011. Additionally, Alison Rowatt was leading last year’s race well into the run when a foot injury resurfaced and ended not only her race, but her season.

This weekend, Sam, Stuart and Alison are returning along with 70.3 specialists Charlie Pennington and Richard Hobson, all looking to keep the winning streak alive against what is probably the strongest amateur field assembled at any UK race of the year.

Raisins and coffee

Matt, Jenny, Richard and Mette will be on site at Exmoor supporting the team and, as last year, will be handing out ‘team issue’ California Raisins to keep spectators and athletes well fuelled. Look out for our flags on the campsite, come and say hi on or before race day and we’ll hand over the little packs of goodness!

Our specially branded sample packs of California Raisins have gained something of a cult following with local triathletes, conveniently sized for the back pocket of your cycling jersey and containing a perfect amount of ‘natural energy’.
