Late in the year it was announced that the Phuket 70.3 would have qualifying slots for Kona, so it became a target for Jenny to achieve early qualification here.
Team manager Richard Melik had been to the race the previous year and came back with stories of a super tough bike course, sandy beaches and the legendary after race parties. The 2011 version did not disappoint.
A downpour on the morning of the race made some of the steeper climbs almost unrideable and saw top age groupers and leading pro women reduced to a walk up them. In spite of the rain, the heat and humidity on the run was enough to trouble many of the athletes.
Jenny did not have a perfect race but managed to win her age group, confirming her qualification for both Vegas and Kona in one go.
With lots of friends racing the only thing left was to party hard and vow to return again in 2012.
