The Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii are a big target for next year and Stuart travelled over to Mexico for an early chance at getting his qualifying slot. 6th place in his age gropup in a time of 9:14:09 was good enough to achieve the goal in difficult conditions. With just over ten months to go, plans can now be put in place to deliver a strong performance next October on the Big Island.
It was a flat course, but given the weather it turned into a tough day. Not only were we buffeted by the wind on the bike, but we encountered a monsoon storm on the run. That aside, it’s a great race and I was delighted to collect my Kona slot.
Congratulations Stuart!
